District CT Scanner finally approved
News Release
Riverside HCF
Riverside is now one step closer to getting a CT Scanner at La Verendrye Hospital further to receiving formal approval from the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care today.
“We received the news at about 1:30 this afternoon”, announced Wayne Woods, CEO of Riverside Health Care Facilities Inc.
The approval gives Riverside the green light to proceed to tender for a 64-slice CT Scanner. Riverside will select vendors to receive the request for proposal.
“We should receive their proposals back within a couple of weeks and then we’ll go through a selection process”, Woods explained.
Woods further explained that some adjustments will be needed in the vacant room once the vendor is chosen.
“Once the room is ready, the equipment can be installed”, he said.
Meanwhile, Riverside staff has completed their first module of coursework to operate a CT Scanner.
Patti Johnson, Manager of Diagnostic Services was pleased to hear the news.
“Our staff are definitely ready to start providing this service to the communities we serve”, she said.
Foundation Director, Teresa Hazel and Just Imagine Campaign Chair, Deane Cunningham were equally pleased to get the news.
“The entire district has shown how much this technology is needed by how quickly they put forward the money to purchase it”, said Hazel, speaking about the very successful Just Imagine campaign to raise $1.5 million to purchase a CT Scanner. The campaign surpassed its fundraising goal in March of this year.
“The people of the Rainy River district deserve first-class health care and I am so pleased to hear that the Ministry has given their approval so we can get the CT Scanner here as quickly as possible”, said Deane Cunningham, Campaign Chair.
Although hesitant to give any firm operational date, Woods did say the CT Scanner should be here before Christmas.
