DRYDEN, ON - Five regional entrepreneurs are being featured in a 20 minute video “I am an Entrepreneur” which was filmed recently in the region. The focus of the video is the unique story each entrepreneur has about their experience, their business and its success. Featured on the video are Don Beasant, DBI International, Kenora; Jason Lilly, Northridge Funeral Homes, Emo; Jackie Lampi-Hughes, Energy Fitness Centre, Fort Frances; Nadine McBride, Minaki Yurt Adventures, Minaki and Kevin Ede, NoRealty Fee, Dryden. Each entrepreneur was asked the same series of questions and their individual answers told their story. Footage of each business was also filmed and is part of the DVD.
The video, produced by CJBN TV, is part of the Fueling Innovation: Re-igniting Entrepreneurship 2007 (FI:RE 2007), a two-day conference on innovation and entrepreneurship is to be held in Dryden, Ontario, September 27 & 28, 2007. The DVD will be released at the conference and a copy given to each attendee.
This regional conference will feature knowledgeable, dynamic keynote speakers and presenters in the areas of innovation, intellectual property, industrial design, manufacturing, processing, distribution, exporting, opportunity identification, entrepreneurship and niche marketing. Resource people with the expertise to assist individuals and small businesses with realizing economic opportunities will be available for consultation throughout the conference. And seasoned entrepreneurs, both from within the region and beyond it, will share their experience to help mentor others. The conference will include presentations, workshops, case studies, panel discussions and one-to-one mentoring.
Materials from the region are to be showcased to encourage discussion on the many value-added opportunities. These materials include but are not limited to various wood products including studs, trusses, engineered wood, granite and other stone, indigenous plants and primary food products etc.
The primary objective of the event is to create a climate of opportunity for manufacturing, processing and distribution development. By connecting people to the information, expertise and resources necessary for enterprise development, regional economic development professionals anticipate an increase in entrepreneurial activity, diversification of industry and a move to innovative new business growth.
