Cross country finishes season in Hawley

By Becky Mollberg Coach This meet marked the end of my first year coaching the CC team, and it was a cold, cloudy and windy ending, with some awesome performances by all. The place of the meet was in Hawley - a 4 1/2 hour bus ride. But we were able to get there early enough for the team to feel good about the time they had to stretch their bus legs and get warmed up and ready for the races. Unfortunately, no one went to state - Andrew got 12th place about 12 seconds behind 10th- the last spot able to go, but he was happy with his last running performance, and the lead girl- Saragh Fraser- got 17th overall which is amazing for a 2nd year 8th grader. With the elementary CC program being a success again this 2nd year - due to Sariina kallis efforts of creating this program- I am hoping we have a good amount of new young runners coming next fall as well. Varsity Boys- Andrew Friesen 17:28 12th - Best time of the season!! - Timo Brielmann 20:46 69th place ***This was both Timos and Andrews last race of their High School careers - Taylor Poole 20:19 62nd - just one second off of his all time PR!!!! Awesome job!!! -Jory Monnie 20:22 63rd Season PR by 2 seconds!! -Bryce Palm 21:00 69th Season PR by 17 seconds!!!!!! Way to go!! - Bryan hasbargen 75th - No Time due to computer error - Ryan Cooper 85th - No time due to computer error Overall team score - 258 11th out of 12 teams Overall, all the boys ran amazing - the two that did not get times both felt it was their best race of the year. Taylor will be leading the pack as a senior captain next year and I know he will do a great job. Andrew and Timo will be greatly missed. They showed great leadership to the younger athletes and I wish them luck in college. Varsity Girls - Saragh Fraser 16:39 17th 11 second PR ever!! -Katelyn Erickson 17:23 36th!! An awesome time to end the year! -Emily Fraser 18:00 54th A 5 second PR all time! -Jessie Bueggler 18:01 A season PR by 16 seconds! -Kathryn Clifford 19:32 an awesome finish for her 2nd varsity race! -Katie Laugtug 19:58 great job! -Karlie Eaton- was not able to finish due to a asthma attack during the race. Overall. 119 points and 9th out of 12 teams The girls grew to be a very strong team this year for being so young overall. They all finished with great races, with 3 PR’s. We will also not be saying goodbye to any girls- all will be back with karlie eaton being the head captain for the girls team her senior year.
