News Release
Riverview School

This past weekend, Riverview School travelled to Atikokan to participate in the Gord Savoy Invitational Volleyball Tournament.
The tournament involved 28 teams from Kenora, Atikokan, Rainy River, Fort Frances and Mine Center. Riverview did very well in both the grade 7 and 8 divisions.
In the grade 8 girl’s division, Riverview won 5 games and lost 3 and ended up tied for 2nd after the round robin, but because of the tie breaking procedure, they did not make the playoffs.
The grade 8 boys played very well and made the playoffs. In the semi-finals, they lost a close 25-23 match to Mine Center who had placed first in the round robin.
The grade 7 boy’s team had an excellent round robin finishing 1st going into the playoffs, but lost their semi-final match to St. Francis 31-29.
Our grade 7 girl’s team which was made up of 2 gr. 7 girls and 6 gr. 6 girls had an awesome tournament and ended up with an eleven wins - one loss record.
They won two straight games in the playoffs to take home the gold medals.
Congratulations to all the teams on a job well done!
