Riverview girls win silver medals

Over the past weekend, the Riverview Girl’s Volleyball team was involved in the season’s final tournament, the Regional Championships. They started the tournament with four straight wins in the round robin which put them at the top of their pool. Along with Riverview School, Sturgeon Creek, Atikokan High School, and Mine Center all qualified for the semi-finals.
Riverview was matched up against Atikokan while Sturgeon Creek went up against Mine Center. After being down by as many as 7 points, the Riverview girls rallied back to pull ahead of Atikokan by the score of 25 – 23. The other semi-final saw Mine Center also qualifying for the finals. The championship game between Mine Center and Riverview was an excellent match seeing Mine Center taking the gold medal after a final game that was won by the score of 28 – 26.
After several third place finishes this season, the Riverview girls were able to take home silver medals, not quite what they wanted, but pleased with their performance. Awesome job, girls!!
