Brick by brick RRHS students are building a school

On Nov. 23rd and 24th approximately 40 Rainy River High School students participated in the second annual Brick by Brick Wake-a-Thon. All funds raised went to the Brick by Brick campaign.
Students were required to bring in a minimum pledge amount of $50.00. If they brought this in, they stayed at the school all night on Friday for a dance and fun activities, while trying to stay awake until 7:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. This year, just over $2,500 was raised.
The Brick by Brick Committee is very grateful to anyone in the community who pledged a student!
To date the Brick by Brick Committee has raised about $8,800 out of their $12,000 goal to build a school in Sierra Leone, Africa.
Future fund-raising efforts include a pancake breakfast in January, and this year the RRHS Student Council is allowing the Brick by Brick Committee to host the annual 30 Hour Famine. The proceeds from this fund-raiser traditionally go to World Vision. The Brick by Brick 30 Hour Famine is slated to happen in April of 2008.
This year the committee is planning to reach the $12,000 goal they set the September of last year. Even after the school has been built, the committee is planning on doing fund-raising events every year to pay for expansions, repairs, supplies and salaries for the school staff.
Keep reading the Record for the dates of future fund-raising events.
