Lorna Jarvis

In loving memory of Lorna Jarvis, age 80, of Rainy River, Ontario who passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2002 at the Atikokan General Hospital in Atikokan, Ontario.
Lorna was born on December 29, 1921 in Zealandia, Sask. to William and Martha Woodcock. She moved as a teenager to the Rainy River area graduating from the Rainy River High School. She was united in marriage to Clyde Raymond Jarvis on August 10, 1940 and together they farmed north of Rainy River. Later on she ran the canteen at the arena for several years. Lorna was an active member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church and a longtime member of the Catholic Women’s League. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and later bird watching and travelling to see family in British Columbia.
She was predeceased by her parents William and Martha Woodcock, husband Clyde on June 5, 1995 and son Ronald Shane Jarvis in 1980.
Lorna leaves behind her sons Harold and wife Judi of Atikokan Leonard and wife Ruby of Kamloops, BC, George and wife Geri of Winnipeg, MB and Robert of Rainy River, ON; daughters Mary Louise and husband Ernest Kowal of Oakburn, MB, Celine and husband Helmut Termath of Whitehorse, Yukon, Sheila and Wally Palaszewski of Timmins, ON; grandchildren Christopher (Jennifer), Shannon (Jeffrey) Johnson, Cheryl and Lonnie Lind, Raymond (Tracey) Jarvis, Kimberly (Leonard Sidloski), Michael Jarvis, Jeffrey Kowal, Deidre and Leigh Jarvis, Darren Jarvis, James Termath and Meghan Marchuk; great grandchildren Alexandra, Gregory, Keyden, Seth and Bennett; brother Stewart Woodcock of Duncan, BC; sisters Eleanor Reimer and husband Jake and Irene Ricketts and husband George all of Vernon, BC and numerous nieces and nephews.
A prayer service was held on Monday May 6, 2002 at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Roman Catholic Church in Rainy River, Ontario.
Funeral Mass was held on Tuesday May 7, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Roman Catholic Church in Rainy River, Ontario.
Father Eugene Whyte O.M.I. officiated with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Rainy River, Ontario.
The pallbearers were Donald Jarvis, Michael Jarvis, Lonnie Lind, John Mykytyn, Wally Paslaszewski, and Leonard Sidloski.
The honorary pallbearers were Sophie Arpin, Winnie Berard, Jane Burnell, Lorraine Dryden, Rose Hanson, Mary Haskins, Gisella Mykytyn, Iona Unger, Gladys Yeo and Nettie Monastyrski.
