Rainy River Red Hatters hold Christmas Tea

By Susan Douglas
RR Red Hatters

Giggles abounded as Lady Linda of La Di Dah; (Linda Budreau) escorted guest of honour, Duchess of Wilson Creek, (Bev Langner), Queen La Diva, (Susan Douglas), and Lady Dolly of La Tea Da, (Dawn Jarvis) to the metropolis of Stratton, in search of the Travelling Teapot. They spotted Lady Love Lee’s home, (Jan Lee) and upon entering discovered the teapot set among the Christmas decorations. It was indeed set up for a Christmas Tea!
Joining the festive occasion were Lady Cynthia LaFleur, (Cyndi Bolen), and Lady Lizbeth, (Nancy Fretter), all adorned with red and purple regalia. The ladies were seated at a delightful table bedecked with candlelight and party crackers, which contained a paper hat, surprise and fortune for each attendant. After sampling the mints and pickles, the girls delighted in the yummy veggie pizza.
Our tea tasting consisted of Chai tea and Rita McNeil’s Teahouse Blend, which Jan had purchased at Rita‘s teahouse in Cape Breton. Our hostess served dessert and
Lady Love Lee was pleased to share her recipe for the delicious pistachio ice cream cake with her guests. The afternoon passed all too quickly with the entertaining company of these girlfriends.
Thanks so much Lady Love Lee (Jan Lee) for a wonderful afternoon!
Duchess of Wilson Creek took our Travelling Teapot home with the next party to be held on Monday December 17th. Jeanette Armstrong will be the Guest of Honour along with other attendees.
Nine red hatters joined with Governess of Guitar, (Charlene Gustafson), and Lady Carolina Rose, (Carolyn Kreger) for a Christmas Carol Hymn sing at the Long Term Care for Residents. The residents donned their red Santa hats joining the colourfully dressed ladies, for a delightful afternoon. The Les Rouge Rogues Choir then broke into the Teddy Bear Song, (which they had practised in Berglund),and followed that with an explanation of the event. Soft Teddy bears in warm blankets, created by the ladies, were then distributed to the eager recipients. Queen La Diva, (Susan Douglas), then took photos for the residents to have in their rooms. Dessert was provided and served by the ladies. Thanks to all the Rogues who participated in the making of these teddy blankets, to Dawn Jarvis and others who donated teddies, and for those who came out to sing and serve. God Bless you!
