Rainy River doesn't feel safe anymore
Letter to the Editor:
At 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening, my mom, Jean Heard, (commonly known as Grandma Jean), was walking from my home on Third Street over to the hospital to play the piano for chapel.
Cuddles, her little Pomeranian, was walking on a leash a little behind her. As they were crossing the street towards the Bank, a BIG dog came up silently behind them and attacked Cuddles. Mom turned around when she heard Cuddles yelp and yelled “Go! Go!” Just as silently, the killer left.
Mom scooped Cuddles and took her to the hospital for help, but nothing could be done. The attacking dog had ripped the hide of Cuddles, a strip about 4-6 inches wide, completely around her midsection. Her lungs were punctured. Her backbone exposed. All we could do was take Cuddles to Dr. Perrioz and have her put down.
Cuddles is not the first dog to be killed recently. If your dog was running loose at 6:30 Tuesday evening, you should consider having your dog put down. It is a dangerous animal. It will kill again. Tying it up is not an option, because dogs get loose.
Gramma Jean is horrified and terrified of walking alone on the streets of Rainy River. Day or night (and it gets dark early now), Rainy River doesn’t feel safe anymore.
Imagine the danger to a child.
