New CSO appointed to area O.P.P. detachment

There is a new public relations person at the Rainy River District Ontario Provincial Police Dept.
Constable Anne McCoy took over as Communication Services Officer on Jan. 3, 2008 when Constable Doug Irish went back to regular patrol duties.
McCoy is a 15 year veteran with the O.P.P. and is looking forward to her new duties which include dealing with the media across the Rainy River District and also building relationships with the communities the force serves.
To do that she will be visiting area schools, organizations and groups like the Substance Abuse Prevention Team and Parents Against Illicit Narcotics.
She has taken a Community Services Effective Presentation course though the O.P.P. and did serve as a CSO on a part time basis while stationed in Nipigon. In addition to serving in that community she has been based out of Emo.
She says she was offered a position Thunder Bay but truly feels small communities are where she belongs. She hopes to build strong networks with communities in the area and encourages any groups wanting her to meet with them or speak to them on a subject (i.e. seniors and phone fraud) to call her at 274-3322.
Another example of how the CSO helps a community is the recent work by Doug Irish to help Rainy River get a Neighbourhood Watch Program going. “Any group wanting the O.P.P. to be involved in their event should not hesitate to call me.”
She works Mon. to Fri. 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. If she is not in leave her a message.
