Memorial baskets and trees to be offered again in RR

Spring: with the temperature at a balmy 35 below, ones mind automatically goes to spring planting, flowers and growing things, or maybe not.
The Rainy River Beautiful Bloomers (beautification committee) held its first meeting of 2008 on Jan. 22 at the RRAD. We realize the need to start the planning process early. We once again want to hang baskets around town along the highway. These baskets are provided two ways. The town provides about 20 baskets from their budget and opportunity is given for individuals to purchase a basket in honour or in memory of a loved one. Last year 15 baskets were hung as memorials. Want to get on board with this project? Your donation of $40.00 can be made at the town office. In order that the florist can have the baskets in full bloom and ready for hanging in May/ June we should have our order to them by March 1st. Do it now!!
Another project of the beautification committee is a yard contest. Prizes will be given out to homeowners who register and participate in this “beautify your yard” contest. Look for further information coming in the utility bill.
We will also be planting Memorial Trees. Each tree will cost $100.00 . The town will plant, nurture and oversee this project. The trees will have a memorial name plague attached.
The next “Beautiful Bloomers” meeting is set for Tuesday, Feb. 26,2008 at 5 P.M. See you there! All rightee – ready – set – melt – grow – beautify.
