Two arrested for drug trafficking near Emo

(Fort Frances, Ont) On February 7th, 2008 at 11:30 p.m. Rainy River District OPP officers were patrolling the Township of Emo when they observed a suspicious vehicle traveling eastbound on Highway 11. The vehicle was stopped and a check of the driver was revealed that he was breaching a previous release condition. The driver was arrested and detained by police. Treaty Three police attended the scene of the traffic stop to assist OPP officers. A further search of the vehicle revealed a large quantity of cocaine and oxycodone pills. The street value of the drugs seized is estimated to be $12,000. A male passenger was subsequently arrested.
Cesar Moran and Leo Grouette, both of Winnipeg, Manitoba have been charged with two counts of Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Cesar Moran has also been charged with two counts of Failing to Comply with a Recognizance. Both men are currently in custody of the Fort Frances District Jail pending a show cause hearing.
