You are here
Larger than life and really fun!
Have you ever decided to do something thinking it would be small and quaint and it became larger than life?
Well on Saturday the culmination of a few weeks of efforts came to a head at my house when we celebrated my fiancee's birthday.
A few weeks ago I decided that since I was unable to celebrate Kim's 40th birthday last year (she was away in Belize) I would throw her a party this year. It started with me mentioning it to my brother Pete. He said he and his wife Janine would be there. So I figured that was a coup all in itself, along with my parents, grandma and Uncle Bob we would have a party.
But I decided that since I had made an invitation on the computer I would be polite and send out a few to other far away people.
The first reply came from my cousin Jay, his wife and newborn. I expected them to politely decline but instead they accepted. Well I had to juggle accommodation arrangements around but had it under control.
Then my sister from Thunder Bay and her partner said they were coming. Again the juggling for places to stay took place, but we got it done.
Best friend Jim Armstrong wasn't sure if he would be in town, but in the end was so he and his wife made it.
Friends Lisa and Joe Borg made it to the party and even Damon Delvecchio who had declined made a cameo appearance.
Neighbour and friend Kirk Wood dropped in and we had ourselves a party! From small to big, it was awesome. I can't believe it came together as smoothly as it did with all the extras deciding to come but it did!
Kim really enjoyed the party and I am so grateful to all who opened their homes to help accommodate the family from afar.
–Until then,
Ken
