Red Hatters hold Valentine's Party in Rainy River
By Susan Douglas
RR Red Hat Society
In celebration of St. Valentine, Les Rouge Rogues, chapter of the Red Hat Society, gathered at the Roadside Restaurant Feb. 19th. Hostesses for the event were Countess Shutterbug, Lou Ricci; Lady Jeanette, (Armstrong); and Lady Snow Belle, Sheila McIntosh. The Rogues attended a beautiful fountain of punch before devouring a delicious meal prepared by the Restaurant. For dessert they savoured delicious fresh fruit dipped in chocolate, at the chocolate fountain station. The room was appropriately decorated in red (and purple) to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
Lady Snow Belle led the ladies in two games; the first involved teams of four. The ladies were given a list of items to discover in the depths of their purses, some of which brought much laughter. The second game divided the ladies into two teams, with two volunteers chosen for balloon girls. The other members of the team then had to blow up balloons and place them on the girls; seeing how many balloons they could stick to them. Balloons were shoved up shirts, in mouths, and held between knees as the ladies tried to get as many balloons on their girl as they could. Thanks Donna Moen and Charlene Gustafson for being such good sports! The prize winners were Mary Sanderson, Sheila McIntosh, Bev Langner, and Cyndi Bolen. Lou Ricci took home the beautiful decorated mailbox donated by Sandra Airdrie from The Cut Above. Since we never solicit prizes from businesses this particular donation was greatly appreciated! Everyone enjoyed this fun evening. Thanks hostesses!
Our next event will be the Easter Parade on March 25th at the Knox United Church, 5:30 sharp! Please pay $10.00 at the Record Office before March 20th. Bring scissors, ribbon, lace, fancy trim, and glue guns. We’ll supply the bonnets! Don’t forget your kazoos.
