By Laurel Desrosier
F.W.I.

Forest Women’s institute met at the home of Carol Clifford on March 11th. The meeting was called to order by Dorothy Wiersema.
Evelyn Nelson read the Mary Stewart Collect. Roll Call which was bring an item for auction was answered by eight members.
Carol Clifford read the Minutes of the last meeting and they were approved.
The treasurers Report was given by Carol Clifford who also moved the adoption of this report. The motion was seconded by Peggy Livingston.
We had an invitation to the spring luncheon at the Bergland hall. Rose Hanson and Vivian Hartnell will go to this afternoon of fun.
We had a letter from the High school inquiring if we would present our bursary to a graduating student again this year.
Eleanor Wiersema gave us an enlightening rose report. The rose program needs the support of every one to help pass motion M-427. In order for this motion to pass it must be accepted by every Member of Parliament in Canada. Twice in the History of Ovarian cancer in Canada a Member of Parliament has tabled a Bill to declare ovarian cancer month; each time, Parliament dissolve before the Bill could be passed. This is where you come in. Every voice that joins our campaign will bring this dream one step closer to reality. On the www.parl.gc.ca home page, you can find your MP by simply entering your postal code. On your MP’s profile page is a direct link to his or her email. In the title of your email message simply type “Please Support Motion M-427.” Feel free to add a message if you want your MP to know what his or her support means to you as a voter and a Canadian citizen. Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month is officially recognized in both the United Stated and United Kingdom. Both these governments actively support the ovarian cancer campaign efforts in their countries. Together we too can bring our elected officials together around a common goal-to increase Canadian awareness of this disease. Thank You For Taking TheTime To Do This.
Eleanor Wiersema will organize a rose session in Rainy River.
There will be further updates at the next meeting.
Auditors Peggy Livingston and Evelyn Nelson will Audit the books before the next meeting that will be held on April eighth at the home of Laurel Desrosier. Roll Call at hat meeting will be “Pay Dues for the coming Year”. We would like to hold a garage sale in May. There will be further discussion on this subject at the next meeting. Dorothy Wiersema adjourned the meeting and the motion was seconded by Rose Hanson. Eleanor Wiersema and Rose Hanson had jokes to share with us. With everyone in a jovial mood a lively auction of items brought by members was held. The door prize was won by Eleanor Wiersema and the draw was won by Dorothy Wiersema. Carol served a delicious lunch.
