Red Hatters hold an Easter Parade in RR

By Susan Douglas
Les Rouge Rogues

Les Rouge Rogues, (red hatters) donned their Easter bonnets for the Easter Parade, Tues. Mar. 25th.
Hostess, Vice Queen, Lady Linda of La Di Da was regretfully absent due to illness.
The Knox United Church Women catered for the event with remaining hostesses, Bev Langner, Susan Douglas, and Elsie Morrison.
The ladies were welcomed, followed by a comical reading on Tater People by Lady Trillium, (Donna Moen).
The ladies gathered after our meal to decorate our delightful bonnets for the parade of “the red hat brigade.” Each gal received a bunny basket of treats and Easter cards, with a keepsake bookmark, created by the hostesses.
Following our Easter Bonnet sing song, accompanied by kazoos, the ladies participated in two games; Easter Bingo and the Bird game. Several prizes were awarded along with the Easter basket door prize won by Lady Izzy, (Janet Wolanicki).
Lady Round To It, (Elsie Gerula) gave a demonstration talk on Ukrainian Easter Eggs. The ladies were very interested in learning the techniques which included “a steady hand”. Elsie had several eggs on hand including ostrich, goose, and many decorated eggs. Lady Round To It has agreed to give us a class in the future so that we can learn the technique, “hands on.”
Thank you Linda Budreau for all the work you put into the planning of this event, to the other hostesses, to Elsie, Debbie Armstrong and Kari Brigham.
