Legion Ladies Aux. to cater RRHS prom

The local branch of the Legion Ladies Aux. held their monthly meeting on April 9, 2008 with President Valerie Nelson presiding. Their were 17 members present. Secretary Gladys Yeo read the minutes of the March meeting. Accounts were presented and authorized for payment. Treasurer Donna Ivall read the account of the auxiliary’s finances. Correspondence was read and dealt with as required. Thank you cards were read from members who were ill and received visits and fruit baskets. A letter was read from the Legion Athletic Camp in Manitoba asking for volunteers to chaperone at the camp this summer. Anyone wishing to volunteer may contact the Legion. A request from the Rainy River High School for a donation for the Chem Free Graduation Party was read. A motion passed to give $100.00 to this event.
A letter was read from the Canadian Cancer Society and a motion was passed to give $200.00 to this society. Letter were read by Beaty Nault regarding scholarship donations. A motion was passed to give $200.00 to the Manitoba, Northwestern Ontario District Scholarship Fund.
The auxiliary will be catering to the High School Prom Supper on June 7th.
The Strawberry Social will be held at the Legion on May 21st.
Reports were read from the Meat Draw and Cribbage Committees. President Valerie gave a report on the trip to Red Lake for the District Convention. The meetings went very well, and the ladies learned alot of valuable information.
After the meeting adjourned the Rainy River Record editor Ken Johnston took pictures of the new 2008 executive.
