Pegamigaabo School

These are the grades 5 to 8 students at Pegamigaabo School who has just completed the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program. The program was offered one day a week over a 12-week period with 22 students participating. Constable Brian Major of the Treaty Three Police Service delivered the program and was completely satisfied with the results. “There were some very interesting and intelligent questions that were asked during our class time”, said Constable Major. “I am confident that these kids are aware of the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse, and I am happy for the complete participation from all the kids.” The D.A.R.E. program ended at Pegamigaabo School on April 10 with a hot dog roast for the participants. Program completion certificates were handed out that day along with extras like t-shirts, pins, buttons, etc.
The D.A.R.E. program is an awareness program put on by law enforcement agencies all over North America and is usually aimed at grades 6-8 students, but because of the increasing use by younger children everywhere, grade 5 students at Pegamigaabo School were also invited to participate.
