New seniors housing damaged by severe fire Friday

News Release

(Warroad, MN)-Fire severely damaged the Warroad Senior Living Center during the early morning hours of Friday, April 25, 2008. The facility was under construction and scheduled to be completed Summer 2008. The building was not occupied and there were no reported injuries.
Local authorities notified the fire department at 1:22 a.m. indicating that smoke was seen coming from the center of the complex. The Warroad firefighters arrived at approximately 1:30 a.m. and were assisted by the Roseau Fire Department , MN DNR and other emergency responders.
Aided by strong winds, the fire intensified and spread quickly to all five buildings of the Senior Living Center. The center is designed for early warning and fire protection systems, however, they were not yet in place.
Construction of the facility began in 2006 after nearly a year of planning. Funding for the state-of-the art facility was gifted to the Warroad area by Marvin Windows and Doors. The Warroad Care Center Board of Directors has already begun discussions with the contractor and others to move forward once the extent of the damage has been determined.
The Warroad Senior Living Center will be one of the finest senior care facilities in the state, providing a continuum of care that includes Independent, Assisted, Supportive and Skilled Care living.
