Trade Show deemed a success despite freak storm

Despite a major snowstorm Friday night and Saturday, the Rainy River Chamber of Commerce Trade Show managed to take place and even saw attendance grow this year.
Rainy River Community Coordinator Anthony Mason said 206 people attended the show and visited the 40 booths on hand. Fourteen exhibitors, including the classic car show, were unable to make it to Rainy River due to the weather. But those that were there reported they were fairly busy.
Last year there were about 130 people that attended and that was with good weather. “Had we had that weather I think we would have been well over 500 this year,” said Mason Monday.
The weather not only hindered exhibitors and the public it forced the cancellation of all the outdoor kids activities.
However, Mason was pleased with the number of people that came out despite the snow, wind and poor travelling conditions.
Several of the door prizes were not claimed on Saturday including the $500 in chamber gift certificates. The winning number for it is 2894596. Other unclaimed prizes are as follows:
Melanie’s Foot Care Certificate 2894614
Beauty Chalet Certificate 2894723
Kreger Auto Cert. 2894557
Rec. Board Hockey Statue 2894625

Three door prizes were claimed as follows:
Kreger Auto Cert. won by Gary Tetu
Roadside Restaurant Cert. won by Jaden Wolanicki
Cut Above Cert. won by Faith Kilmury
Mason said many of the exhibitors he spoke with were happy with how the event turned out and they hope that next year it will be even bigger and that it won’t snow!
