Area fire depts. participate in training in Barwick

The Rainy River Volunteer Fire Dept. along with Barwick, Stratton, Bergland, Pinewood, Fort Frances and Atikokan recently went to the OSB Mill back yard in Barwick and participated in Fire Training.
The Mobile Flashover Training Unit is when the Firemen attack a simulated fire just like in a home, just before the fire flashes over. Firemen can see how the fire behaves along the ceiling and walls.
A Fire Rescue Simulator Unit where the Firemen Search and Rescue people in a burning home with out using a real fire in the trailer unit.
The Firemen also learned how to put car fires out, the right way.
The Firemen also learned how to put gasoline fires out properly.
A total of 42 Firemen and six instructors attended the three day training sessions.
