Riverview volleyball team just misses gold at area tournament

After two weeks of practice, Riverview’s coed volleyball teams were off to compete in the Corey Menson Memorial Tournament on Saturday, April 12. The two teams, made up of grade 7s and 8s, were unsure of how they would do against the 14 teams from the East end of the district, but when it came to game time, they pulled it together.
In Pool A, Riverview came up with a huge win over Crossroads, a team who had been showing off their hitting and serving abilities throughout the day. In the end, Riverview A came up just short of playoffs, finishing 3rd in their pool.
Riverview B had six solid games, with great communication and teamwork. They advanced to playoffs and beat a stunned Crossroads with strong, consistent serving. In the gold medal match, Riverview pushed Mine Centre A to a third set. They played really well, but came up short by 3 points, taking home the silver and Most Sportsmanlike award.
Both teams deserve a huge congratulations for the excellent job they did representing Riverview. We’re very proud of you!
