Railroad Daze plans steaming right along
By Sheila Mason
Railroad Daze Comm.
The Railroad Daze spaghetti dinner fundraiser was a huge success due to help of the Rainy River Community Choir who gave an amazing and entertaining performance following the dinner on Apr. 19th.
The Railroad Daze committee also would like to express its gratitude to those who helped cook, bake, clean, organize and serve and especially those of you who came out and supported the Choir and Railroad Daze. Half of the proceeds were donated to the Rainy River Recreation Centre. The other half will be used toward hosting a fun, exciting and entertaining Children’s Festival at Hannam Park during Railroad Daze. We are grateful to the staff and board members from Playschool Inc. and The Rainy River Public Library who will be coordinating it.
The Railroad Daze weekend is really starting to come together. As you well know, in order for an event of this magnitude to be successful it requires many hours of planning, the commitment and time of many volunteers and the financial support of the community. The committee has been busy organizing events, recruiting volunteers, enlisting sponsors and raising donations to contribute to the success of the weekend. We are excited and encouraged at the support from our local community in Rainy River and at the district interest that is being shown.
If you haven’t already registered for the Beautiful Bloomers Beautification Contest that is happening in Rainy River this spring/summer please do! Contact the town office at 807-852-3244 for information and on how to register. It will culminate on Railroad Daze with the judging and great prizes presentations taking place that weekend!
The District Wide Guitar Hero Competition is beginning this week (see article in this paper about it).
