Shauna McInerney said she did not do as well as she would have like to at state, but was happy just to be able to be there.
The Rainy River High School senior travelled to the Twin Cities over the weekend with the Lake of the Woods/Rainy River track team to compete in the state finals.
McInerney who had a banner year with the team competed in the 200m and 400m at state. Unfortunately she false started in the 400m preliminaries. Being only allowed one false start, she was disqualified.
In the 200m she made the finals and finished 7th in a field of 18.
The boys 4X200m relay team finished 6th and Ben Hopkins of LoWHS did not qualify for the finals in the prelims for the 100m and 200m dashes.
McInerney hopes to continue her track career at Bemidji State University this fall.
