Want a little help making your garden an outstanding display? Residents in the west of the District will have a real opportunity to learn from the best on Saturday, May 24 when the Forest Women’s Institute hosts a workshop with landscaper extraordinaire, Marie Anderson from Fort Frances.
With a life long passion for gardening, Anderson has designed some outstanding projects including the Learning Garden adjacent to the Rainy River Board of Education offices at the Robert Moore School in Fort Frances. As well as an Award of Excellence for that project, she judges flowers at the Emo Fair. Anderson also spent a summer managing Swiss Alpine Nursery in Selkirk, Manitoba, a firm that has several times won awards as Manitoba’s best landscaper.
A feature of this Saturday’s workshop will be Canna lilies, with each participant having the opportunity to pot up and take home a rhizome.
The workshop will be held at the home of Eleanor and Archie Wiersema, at 338 Riverbend Drive, which is located at the end of Atwood Rd # 2 South, one mile east of Rainy River off Highway #11. Interested in this learning opportunity? Call Eleanor Wiersema at 852-3363.
