Warroad seniors complex to be rebuilt after fire
News Release
(Warroad, MN) After nearly 3 weeks of investigation by the State Fire Marshal and the Insurance Investigators, the cause of the fire that severely damaged the Warroad Senior Living Center will remain unknown. The Senior Living Center was under construction and expected to open this summer when fire ravaged the five-building complex during the early morning hours of April 25. Arson was ruled out immediately as the investigation focused on a 100 square foot area of the center building. Due to lack of evidence, the cause cannot be determined.
Following the investigation, the site was released back to the general contractor on May 14. Superintendent Ron Dazell of ICS, Inc. explained that they have acquired the proper permits to begin demolition and clear the debris. They expect the site to be clear of rubble in approximately 45 days. Dazell says the concrete will be tested to determine what portions of the foundation and slabs on grade can be salvaged. Once the condition of the concrete has been determined, there will be a timeframe established for completion of the project.
Rebuilding has already begun off-site. Dazell says carpenters are working in a large storage building in Warroad to pre-build panelized walls. The pre-fabrication will continue until the contractor is able to continue construction on-site.
The state-of-the-art Warroad Senior Living Center is a gift to the Warroad area community by Marvin Windows and Doors.
