The 5th Annual Family Fun Day will be held on Sunday, August 10th on Main Street in beautiful downtown Bergland. This event began 5 years ago to promote community spirit and to raise much needed funds in support of the Canadian Cancer Society.
This year, the days activites will begin at 2 p.m. with children’s programs at the McCrosson-Tovell School. Also at 2 pm “Cuts for Cancer” will take place with Stacey Kreger at the clippers. For those brave enough to shave their heads for the cause, pledge sheets are available at the Bergland Store. Stacey will also cut or trim hair for a fee and donate a portion to Cancer.
Have you ever seen the game “BONES” or “BUNNOCK”? A demonstration will take place at 2 pm.
At 3 pm there will be a “WALK, RUN AND RIDE,” for Cancer. Participants are invited to decorate their bikes, wagon or vehicles and themselves to do the walk around the block. Once again pledge sheets are available at the Bergland Store.
The Chili Cook Off will be judged by three judges who are outstanding in their field. Contestants are required to make their Chili “from scratch” and must have their pots to the Bergland Cafe by 4 pm at the latest. Supper follows the Chili contest and is free to all.
During the afternoon Hwy 621 will be providing live entertainment. An “Open Mic” will be shared for those who bring their musical talents.
Information and demonstration will be held by the Lake of the Woods Fire Department
and “Sparky the Fire Dog”.
The days activities will end with a Balloon Release in honour of those who have survived cancer; in memory of those who have lost and to acknowledge those who are still fighting. A free will donation is asked for each balloon and will go towards the Canadian Cancer Society.
You are encouraged to join the communtiy in supporting a great cause and be prepared to enjoy a spectacular afternoon in uptown Bergland on Hwy 621.

P.S. Don’t forget your lawn chair.
