Trinity Lutheran 75th Anniversary well attended

Despite the Highway being under construction on Saturday and Sunday, many people found their way to Trinity Lutheran Church to celebrate its 75th birthday.
The weekend kicked off on Saturday when the church held an open house from 1-5 p.m. The people came at first in a trickle then a steady stream flowed into the church where they visited with one another and explored the history photo albums, registries, had coffee, cake and their photo’s taken for a new registry the church is working on.
Church President Carolyn Kreger said, “They did lots of visiting, laughing and enjoyed fellowship. You know people are having fun when they come and stay for a long while!”
That evening they held a dinner at the Bergland hall so they could accommodate a crowd of 131 people. There was music by The Messengers and The Longneckers. Guest speakers included Rev. John Fullmer, Rev. Lynn Granke, Rev. Jay Borchert, Rev. Ron Grout (all former ministers at the church), Elgin Hall (a former youth pastor), Bob Pint, Willie Longnecker, Laurie Pentney and Carolyn Kreger.
A comical skit called “The Ladies Aid” was performed by the ladies of Trinity.
Several tributes to elderly members were also done at the evening of fun and remembering.
A breakfast the next day was attended by 60 people and the special Holy Communion church service saw the place packed to rafters with 90 people attending.
Many people left with many good memories and some purchased t-shirts, history books and church cookbooks. The cookbook features recipes that have appeared monthly in the church newsletter since 1987. They are all submitted recipes by church members.
From here it is, “Onward, forward into the future being led by the Holy Spirit,” said Kreger on Monday.
