RRWT looking for volunteers again this year

Calling all volunteers!
The Rainy River Walleye Tournament is turning ten this year and thanks to the volunteers every year it has been a huge success.
While they have not noticed a decline in the number of volunteers in recent years, organizers are finding that the volunteers for this year are a bit slower than normal to sign up. For that reason, “We are issuing a reminder to them to come out and help keep the tournament a success,” said RRWT committee member Sarah Berg last week.
They are in need of volunteers to run the door all three days, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. “They work two hour shifts and sign up sheets are available at the drug store,” said committee member Norma Blight.
Also needed are helpers to check boats in the morning when the anglers take off and when they return for weigh-ins. “We used to get (high school) kids to volunteer but it is a P.A. day (no school) on Friday,” said Berg.
People are also needed to do two hour shifts on the hospitality table in the tent Friday and Saturday.
Security or floor walkers are needed to work Friday and Saturday. Again the sign up sheets are at Rainy River Drugs.
While many portions of the event are farmed out to other service clubs in the community who get their own volunteers, “We still need about 100 volunteers to help out,” said Blight.
People new to the community are also welcome to come out and help with the RRWT. High school students off on Friday and Saturday can also sign up and qualify for their mandatory volunteer hours at RRHS.
