Riverview kids do well at x-country meet
By Mark Jodoin
Riverview School
On Wednesday, October 2, the Riverview cross country running team traveled to Crossroads to compete in the annual district cross country run.
Our runners did very well both as individuals and as a team. Out of the 26 runners, 9 runners managed to finish in the top 10 in their events.
Our grade 5 and grade 7 girls teams both placed first overall amongst all other schools, while our grade 8 boys team placed fourth. Top five finishers included Landon Westover in 5th for the grade 8 boys, Shalese Snowden in 4th for the grade 5 girls, Hayley Arpin 3rd in the grade 5 girls, Nolan Short 2nd for the grade 7 boys, and Emily Fraser (gr. 8 girls), Skylar Arpin (gr. 7 girls) and Elizabeth Fraser (gr. 5 girls) all took home gold in their respective divisions.
We’re hoping to take in two more meets this season before packing our runners away.
The final meet will be the Mid Canada Elementary School Cross Country Run on October 18 in Thunder Bay.
