Riverview runners finish at top of the pack in T. Bay
By Mark Jodoin
Coach
On Saturday, October 18th, a small group of runners from Riverview attended the Mid Canada Cross Country Championship in Thunder Bay. A team of 5 girls and 3 boys were able to make the trip. Over 440 runners, ranging from gr 4 to gr. 8, took part in the 3 km. race.
With 5 girls, Riverview was able to enter as a team and did extremely well. Out of the 222 runners, Emily Fraser was our top finisher, ending up in 4th place. Skylar Arpin was close behind in 6th, Elizabeth Fraser finished 27th, Hayley Arpin 44th, and Shelby Tymkin 99th. With a combined score of 180, our girls team finish 4th place out of 22 teams, only 15 points behind 3rd place.
On the boy’s side, Nolan Short was our top finisher and wound up 32nd out of 221 runners. Following Nolan were Jayson Rencher (134th) and Aaron Short (140th). Unfortunately, with only 3 boys, Riverview was unable to enter as a full team.
All of the runners performed very well, either cutting their time from last year, or improving their finish from last year. Riverview would also like to send out a special thanks to the Legion who helped cover some of the cost involved in traveling to Thunder Bay.
