Three grand openings in Rainy River next Tuesday

Next Tuesday is not just Family Literacy Day in Rainy River, it is also the Grand Opening of the Rainy River Public Library, NCDS Career Works and Service Ontario Office on Main St. in Rainy River.
While Service Ontario moved in last year, and just recently the Library had relocated to the former Lowes Furniture building the grand re-openings were put off until all the dust had settled.
Now coinciding with Family Literacy Day (Canada) the library board and staff will be hosting an open house from 1-3 p.m. January 27, 2009. There will be plenty of activities for all ages including a scavenger hunt, games, door prize, colouring contest, coffee, tea and cake.
The colouring contest is now underway and kids can pick up their pictures to colour this week and hand them in before next Tuesday. They will be judged at the grand re-opening.
At 4 p.m. there will be story time for the kids and a craft. Families are welcome to come in and participate.
NCDS Career Works, who uses space in the library will also be hosting an open house from 1-3 p.m. to mark their relocation to the former Lowes Furniture building.
Also celebrating their new location will be the Service Ontario office (formerly the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines office). Located adjacent to the library, they will also be hosting an open house from 1-3 p.m. and will be serving coffee, tea and cake. All are welcome to come in and see what services are available there.
There may be ribbon cutting ceremonies at one or both places. But that is yet to be determined. If there are they will take place at 1 p.m. and will likely feature any dignitaries that are on hand for the celebrations.
For more information on either event or organization contact the library at 852-3375 or Service Ont. at 852-3287.
