Memorial flower baskets now on sale at Town Office
By Jeanette Armstrong
RR Beaut. Comm.
The Beautification Committee “Beautiful Bloomers” met Thursday, Jan. 29 to discuss plans for 2009.
First of all we gathered many Christmas lights last November, but because of the very cold weather in December they were not utilized. We realize they need to be put up at least by late October. We will plan to do this in the fall and if you have lights you wish to donate please continue to do so.
It is now time to prepare for Spring. This year we asked for quotes on the Memorial Baskets and Loewen Nurseries from Stratton was the successful bid. It is our hope that those who bought baskets last year will once again support us in our efforts to beautify Main Street and Atwood Avenue. If you weren’t able to participate last year and would like to purchase a basket for the 2009 season you can make your purchase at the town office.
The committee is always welcoming new members to help with ideas to spruce up the town, our next meeting will be on March 12 at 5:30 p.m. at the Rainy River Senior Depot. Also watch for ad in next weeks paper.
In our plans this year along with the regulars flower boxes is to begin to plan for the town entrances and to continue work at the cemetery.
Thanks to area residents who so readily give of their time and effort to beautify our town. Again, we are looking forward to seeing you all at 5:30 on March 12 at the Rainy River Senior Depot for our next meeting.
