Oscar Erickson, 85
Oscar Erickson of Rainy River died at his home on Sunday, July 28, 2002. Oscar was born in Hartford, South Dakota on June 17, 1917 to Oscar and Stella Erickson.
He is proceeded in death by Theresa, his wife of 60 years and a brother Clifford Erickson.
Surviving him are his son Eric Erickson, daughter Nancy Erickson Stanton, a sister Mildred Thulen, brother Kenneth Erickson and niece Sandy Rush.
Oscar’s first trade was as a meat cutter. During W.W. II he served the U.S. Army in the European Campaign as a Chef and Butcher. Oscar was in construction for many years. He ran a Tourist Camp for fishing and hunting in Ear Falls where he acted as a guide. He was an electrician, plumber - just an all around guy. His proudest association was working for NASA in the 70’s on an eclipse project.
Oscar and Theresa immigrated to Canada in 1967. Oscar was a familiar sight in Rainy as he drove around town doing his daily tasks. He will be missed.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, August 3, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Roman Catholic Church in Rainy River, Ont with Father James Panikulam officiating.
Cremation took place in Thunder Bay, Ontario and interment took place in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Rainy River, Ont.
The family requests that in memoriam donations may be made to the Rainy River Senior’s Centre.
