Big Brother is now watching us

Is someone watching you?
I remember reading George Orwell's 1984 in high school. The author predicted a future where "Big Brother" is watching you all the time.
Well this week the United States government launched its first unmanned drone to patrol the border between them and us. It used to be you had to worry about the game warden driving up in a boat to see what you were doing... but now Uncle Sam will be watching every movement along the border and transmitting details back to a command center.
It will be interesting to see how many times the Border Patrol or perhaps even fighters from Grand Forks are scrambled because Johnny Canuck did a u-turn in his boat and illegally crossed the international boundary; all caught by the drone flying 10 miles up.
I have heard the stories time and time again of anglers, from both sides of the border getting told they are fishing on the wrong side of the border only to find out the official telling them that is not sure of where the border is. After all the rule of thumb I grew up with was it is the middle of the river between the two banks. However, as water levels rise and fall the width between banks changes.
Another problem may come with snowmobilers driving on the wrong side of the border, again not exactly sure where the line is.
All the traffic on the river will certainly pose a challenge for those deciphering what the drone is transmitting. We on the other hand will now know that Big Brother is watching us!
