Riverview basketball team wins silver at tourney
By Mark Jodoin

The Riverview girl’s basketball team came up with an excellent effort this past weekend at the Crossroads basketball tournament. Their round-robin play included wins against the host school, Crossroads, Mine Centre, Robert Moore, and Sturgeon Creek who had beat them in a close match just one week before. The girl’s one lost came at the hands of a tough St. Francis team. Both teams played a strong defensive game with the final score ending up 11-8.
Going into the playoffs, the Riverview girls once again met a strong Sturgeon Creek team. After being tied at the end of regulation play, it took three overtime periods of exchanging baskets to break the tie. It wasn’t until Skylar Arpin broke free for a layup late in the third overtime period that gave the girls a chance to close the door and take the semi-final game once and for all.
Their final game against St. Francis was also a nail-biter with the lead changing hands right from the beginning of the game. In the end St. Francis was able to take gold while Riverview took silver.
