The Sound of Music to be performed in Baudette Apr. 23-26
Press Release
Pequana Playhouse
Lake of the Woods School will come alive with The Sound of Music this spring. This classic and endearing musical is based on the book The Story of The Trapp Family Singers. It features an unforgettable Rodgers and Hammerstein score, including “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi,” and “Climb Every Mountain.”
A spirited young postulant named Maria is sent to serve as a governess for Captain Von Trapp, a widower with seven children. Her unorthodox methods quickly win over the children, but clash with the regimental conduct the Captain insists upon. After some time with the family, she realizes she has feeling for the captain, and even more frightening, that he may have feelings for her. She is still a postulant, and he is engaged to another, making their romance seemingly impossible. The personal conflicts they are facing are overshadowed by Hitler’s rise to power and imminent invasion of Austria. With their personal happiness and Austria’s future uncertain, they will need great faith and love to overcome the obstacles that lie in the way of their fairytale ending.
A large and very talented cast is featured with participants from many surrounding communities, including people from the Rainy River area.
The production will run from Thursday, April 23rd through Sunday, April 26th. Performances will be at 7:00pm Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and Sunday at 2:00pm.
