RR gets $10,000 grant from Ont.
News Release
Ont. Gov.
The communities of Red Lake and Rainy River are preparing for future investment opportunities with assistance from the Ontario government.
Staff from the Municipality of Red Lake will be trained in Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping, a skill that is essential for developing and presenting accurate information about local assets to potential investors. GIS mapping applications allow potential investors to see a community’s assets in a convenient, one-stop location. Some applications, such as Google maps, are web-based.
The Town of Rainy River will complete an inventory of community assets and update its community profile on the Ontario Investment website. The website is used by investors to research the economic and investment potential of a community.
The Municipality of Red Lake is receiving $4,875 and the Town of Rainy River is receiving $10,000 from the Northern Communities Investment Readiness (NCIR) program.
*NCIR is part of Ontario’s Go North Investor Program which helps northern communities attract and retain jobs.
