Want to walk for a good cause? Then mark May 23rd on your calendar and join in the Alzheimer Society’s annual Walk for Memories in Rainy River.
Pledge sheets are now circulating in the community and are also available at the Rainy River Record at 312 Third St., Rainy River.
The walk will begin at the Rainy River Legion at 10:30 a.m. with registration and the walk to follow shortly thereafter.
As in years past there will be a prize of a free night’s stay at a hotel in Winnipeg for the person raising the most money. This year the hotel is Holiday Inn Airport.
Every participant will receive a free t-shirt and complimentary lunch.
Kenora-Rainy River Exec. Dir. of the Alz. Society Margaret Schonewille is challenging Rainy River to try and beat Fort Frances this year. “Every year Rainy River does really well and was only a few hundred dollars less than them last year.”
Fort Frances will host the Walk for Memories on Sunday May 24th.
People of all ages are welcome to participate in Rainy River and the walk route can be shortened for those unable to do long distances.
All monies raised locally stay local. Schonewille said that they recently purchased Alzheimer’s resource books for the Rainy River Library with money raised in January at the RR Alzheimer Dinner to Remember. While the books have not come in yet, she said they will be available at the library soon.
