Recipes for a Heritage Cook Book are being collected - recipes from old and new WI members, handed down family recipes and recipes from pioneer community members. Contact Ruth Brett with recipes. Children’s programs are planned for this summer. The Museum has applied for a student intern to work for 1 year. With funds from the Dance Fire Memorial Grant, the Museum plans on publishing a small history book. Marjorie is binding the quilt which was made and donated to the Museum by Winnie Rousseau. Thank you, ladies.

Our “Spring Tea” held in April at the Bergland Hall was fairly well attended with the ladies (and gents) enjoying a very good lunch and excellent program on Alzheimer’s Disease presented by Jolene Morrisseau Our display featured quilts of all kinds brought by those who attended. Carolyn Kreger presented an interesting take on “Quilts - part of our heritage for hundreds of years” .... “made up of many squares of different fabrics ....like the patches in the quilt of life”. These include personal safety, mental, emotional, physical, family, recreational, spiritual, and nutritional health, which aspects we will try to address at each of our “Teas”.
The Swedish Weaving and Scrap Booking/Card Making sessions that were to be held this spring will be put forward to the fall.
The Good Citizenship Award for a well deserving Grade 8 student from McCrosson -Tovell school will be presented again this year in June.
Our annual “Pie Sale” will be held at the school in Bergland on June 27th starting at 9am.
The Northwestern Ontario Area WI Convention will be held in Rainy River this October on the 2nd and 3rd. We are hoping for a good number of local members attending.
We plan on filling the flower gardens at the Bergland cemetery again this year, if and when Mother Nature cooperates.
We will once again host the Chili Cook-off at the Bergland Family Fun Days on the 9th of August.
