Joan Mary Pope

It is with great sorrow that the family of Joan Mary Pope announce her demise on Friday November 22, 2002 at the Rainy River Hospital in Rainy River, Ontario.
Joan was born on November 17, 1931 in the United Kingdom to Alice and Thomas Pugh.
She started working at the age of 14 as a preliminary nurse until she was old enough to become a registered nurse. She worked in nursing for 40 years. She was united in marriage to Bruce Reginald Pope on May 14, 1952. Together they came to Canada in 1977 settling in Rainy River.
She was involved with the Brownies and served as a Patrol Leader for the Girl Guides. She was a very artistic person who loved crafts, crocheting, needlepoint, calligraphy and painting. She was a loving and caring person who was always taking care of others. She was a little lady with a big heart who gave so much of herself.
She will be greatly missed by her husband Bruce; children Bruce Ian Pope, Lindi Carol and husband Donald Douglas Tipert and Lance Alexander Pope; grandchildren Natalie Ann, Alesia May and Chance Alexander; sisters Margaret Ellen and husband John Thorgrimson and Gloria Ruth Crossley, niece Ann Tildsley; nephew John Harper; first cousins Sullie Hannaford and Stephanie Clarke and numerous extended family and friends.
Joan was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Alice and Aunt Flo and Uncle Stuart.
A visitation was held on Sunday November 24, 2002 from 7 until 9 p.m. at the Rainy River Funeral Home in Rainy River, Ontario.
Funeral services were held on Monday November 25, 2 002 at 2 p.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Rainy River, Ontario with Pastor Gordon Armstrong Officiating.
Cremation took place following the service at Riverside Crematorium in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
The family wishes to thank the Nurses, Doctors and staff at the Rainy River Hospital for the wonderful care and compassion given to Joan and her family during her last few weeks, it has been greatly appreciated.
