The Wizard of Oz takes stage this week in Baudette
News Release
Pequana Playhouse
The Wizard of OZ is coming to Baudette! From July 20-25, Prairie Fire Children’s Theater and Pequana Playhouse will present dozens of local children in an adaptation of this classic musical.
In only one week, two professional directors will audition, rehearse, and perform a unique version of The Wizard of OZ at Lake of the Woods School. All children ages 7 and older are welcome to participate free of charge, and all who audition will receive roles. Due to the short time frame of the production, actors must be able to attend all rehearsals and performances.
Rehearsals are from 8AM-12PM Monday July 20-Thurs July 23 and on Friday from 2-5PM. Performances are Friday July 24 at 7PM and Sat July 25 at 2PM. The Friday performance will be followed by an ice cream social.
In addition, a free acting workshop offered by the Prairie Fire Directors will be held at 6PM Thursday July 23 at LOW School and is open to the public.
Cast Roles available are: Dorothy, the Tin man, the Lion, Toto, the Munchkins, Glinda, the Yellow Brick Road, the Monkeys, the Winkies, the Green Guard, the Traders of the Emerald City, the Wizard of Oz, Aunt Em & Uncle Henry
The Prairie Fire directors will play the Scarecrow and the Wicked Witch.
Pequana Playhouse is also looking for munchkins, lions, and dreamers to be part of a Wizard of OZ themed float in the 4th of July Parade! Give us a call to dress up or help with construction and be part of the fun.
