Ney crowned Men's Open Champ
By Jim Ney
Oak Harbor Golf Course
Cory Ney is the 2009 Oak Harbor Men’s Open Champion held on Sunday, July 26th. Down 4 strokes with 4 to play, Ney staged a dramatic comeback.
Birdies on the last two holes forced a playoff with defending champion, Garrett Nelson. Garrett shot par over the final three holes of regulation, but it wasn’t quite enough to fend off the late charge by Ney.
Cory went on to win the playoff on the fist hole of sudden death.
41 people participated in the tournament. The weather cooperated and the course was in excellent shape, making for a great day of golf. Oak Harbor would like to thank all of those who supported the tournament and look forward to another successful tournament in 2010.
Next weekend will be a busy at Oak Harbor, with the annual Beverage Tournament on Saturday, August 1st and the Rainy River Open on Sunday August 2nd.
