Be safer and "Just Drive"

The Highway Safety Education Committee (HSEC) of Northwestern Ontario wants drivers to JUST DRIVE. Distracted driving is increasingly the cause of collisions on our highways. Recent studies show that cell phone use and text messaging are as dangerous as impaired driving.
The Insurance Bureau of Canada reports that drivers on cell phones – hand-held or hands-free are four times more likely to crash and numerous studies estimate that 75% of collisions can be attributed to driver distraction.
Studies reviewed by the Ontario Medical Association in September 2008 “Present clear evidence that cognitive distraction causes deterioration in driving performance.”
The HSEC has created a JUST DRIVE decal that will be mounted on the back of transport trucks that sends the message that drivers shouldn’t eat, use their cell phones or text message while driving.
The Highway Safety Education Committee has partnered with Paul’s Hauling and has installed six reflective decals on the back of their tank trucks that travel the roadways of Northwestern Ontario. An additional twelve decals will be on the road in August.
