Sara Gall, formerly of Rainy River, was a part of the Eastman Wildcats Peewee A girls team that represented Manitoba at the Peewee A Girls Western Canadian Fastball Championships which were held in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan on July 31 - Aug 3.
Sara’s dad Donnie was one of the coaches on the team that captured Silver at the 9 team event.
The girls results were as follows
Modified Round Robin
July 31 Eastman 3 - Red Deer Fusion 1
Richmond BC 7 - Eastman 3
Aug 1 Calgary Kaizen 5 - Eastman 1
Delta BC 9 - Eastman 0
Eastman 8 - Saskatoon Raiders 3
Aug 2 Eastman 12 - Saskatoon Phantoms 5
Tie breaker
Eastman 5 - Saskatoon Phantoms 4
The girls finished in 4th place moving on to playoffs and had to face the number one team on Delta BC
The girls upset Delta 4-3 to guarantee themselves a medal.
Next for the girls was Richmond who proved to be too much for Eastman as they posted a 8-0 win with the game ending at 11:30pm
Aug 3
The girls now had a chance to advance to the finals but first they had to beat the Calgary Kaizen.
Eastman played an amazing game and pulled out a 4-1 to advance to the finals against Richmond BC.
The girls were pumped for the chance to get back at Richmond for the 2 previous losses to them and they battled hard all game.
but in the end Richmond who was co coached by Rick Hansen (the man in motion) was too strong and beat our girls 2-1 to capture the title.
Sara has been working hard all year and for her to be a part of this great experience is something her and her proud Dad will never forget.
