Sunday, August 9th will be the 6th Annual day of Bergland’s fight with cancer.
Sunday will be an enjoyable and relaxing day for folks to sit in the comfort of their own lawn chair and watch other brave souls get their heads shaved or get dunked in the dunk tank.
An open mike will be available for the musicians of the neighbourhood and an open mike karaoke will be featured as well. Now that should be entertaining!!
There are great prizes for the children’s activities starting at 2pm under the able guidance of Molly and Kate Bartlett. Face painting will be done by local artist Erica Rencher, who will even paint adult faces (for a donation to cancer) !
We know there are many good cooks in this area. Well, come on out; try for the coveted Chili Champ Award. Bring your Chili pots to the Bergland Cafe by 4pm for judging. Phone Karen at 488-5523 or Ruth at 488-5360 to register.
World famous Bologna Burgers and hard ice cream cones will be available at the Cafe. Complimentary coffee and other drinks will be available all afternoon.
Supper will be held at 5pm featuring pot luck salads, hot dogs, desserts and of course, chili - hot and mild.
The Balloon release has become an important and touching part of the day. A free will donation for the Cancer Society will send up a balloon in honour of those who have survived the fight with cancer; in memory of those who did not and encouagement for those who are still fighting.
So here is your chance Folks, to help with this battle - walk, run, even ride around the country block; have your head (gasp!) shaved or just get a trim. Get your pledge sheets at the Bergland Store or at The Rainy River Drug Store.
