(Iona) Yvonne Marie Hughes

With hearts full of sorrow we announce the passing of our Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, sister and friend, Yvonne Marie Hughes.
Yvonne was born in Barwick, Ontario on October 16, 1926. Her childhood days were spent with her parents Stan and Ethel Mae Hyatt, her three sisters Dorothy, Lorna, and Audrey, and her twin sister Evelyn.
When Yvonne was in her early twenties she met and married Norman Hughes and together they raised a family of eight children first in Barwick and then in Rainy River. In 1971 Yvonne's career at Arctic Cat moved her and her family to Winnipeg. She moved to Dryden in 1996.
Yvonne loved to plant flowers and to tend to them. The flower gardens at her home in Winnipeg were the envy of the neighbourhood. She appreciated the beauty of nature; from the Northern Lights to a warm summer breeze. She had a passion for collecting ornaments and knick-knacks and had a beautiful collection of about 70 porcelain dolls. She enjoyed knitting and playing an occasional game of bingo and had a keen interest in current events.
Yvonne was very loving, caring, kind and gracious and these qualities made her the heart of her family and brought her a great deal of respect and admiration from all who met and have known her. She will be missed more than these words can convey.
Yvonne was predeceased by her husband Norman, sister Lorna Lloyd, by two sons-in-law Norman James MacDonald and Gordon Bouzane and by two brothers-in-law Red Swanton and Ed Butlin.
