In Rainy River fastball is synonymous with Labour Day weekend and this year will be no exception as eight teams have signed up for the annual tournament.
Rainy River Legion team member, Matt Ashworth, said that it is looking like a good tournament with action beginning at 9 a.m. this Saturday. Games will continue all day and at nightfall there will be a dance beginning at 9 p.m. It is again a $1,000 dance at which someone will be lucky enough to win $1,000 at the end of the night.
Back on the ball field Sunday, finals for the tournament are set for 5:30 p.m. with the winning team also walking away with cash and bragging rights.
The public is invited to attend the games all weekend free of charge. There will be beer gardens and food available. Tickets for the dance are available from Ashworth (852-4189) or at the Rainy River Legion.
