Man charged for impaired driving while on golf cart

(Kenora, ON.) – On Sunday 06 Sep. 2009 at 5:00 AM officers attended Beauty Bay to assist Kenora Ambulance. It was reported that a passenger on a golf course had fallen off and required assistance. Officers attended and found the operator of the golf cart to be impaired; he was arrested and returned to detachment. 20 year old Mark Dionne of Woodridge Manitoba was charged with impaired operation. Dionne will attend Kenora court 13 Oct. to answer to the charge.
•Kenora Marine unit stopped a vessel in Devils gap for no lights after dark. The 35 year old operator had been drinking and registered a warning – he was issued a 3 day suspension on his drivers licence. A charge was also laid for equipment not meeting prescribed standards.
•33 year old Marshall Morrison of Big Island has been charged with aggravated assault. The charge was laid after police were called to a disturbance at a Railway Street residence on Saturday night. The victim is being treated at Lake of the Woods District Hospital for injuries sustained during the assault. Investigation is continuing into this incident.
•On September 1, 2009 Fort Frances OPP officers were busy conducting routine traffic enforcement. At approximately 9:00 a.m., officers stopped a vehicle for speeding in the west end of Fort Frances on Kings Highway. As a result of the traffic stop an investigation ensued and the Northwest Region K-9 officer, stationed in Fort Frances, attended to assist.
Police seized over 75 grams of cannabis marihuana with a street value of over $1200. As a result of police investigation, two males have been charged with criminal offences;
Christian LAVALLEE, age 31 years of Rouyn Noranda, Quebec
Martin TREPANIER, age 26 years of Rouyn Noranda, Quebec
Both males have been charged with one count each of Possession of Cannabis Marihuana over 30 grams contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. LAVALLEE and TREPANIER have been release from police custody by a Recognizance with surety and are scheduled to appear before Fort Frances Court on September 28, 2009.
•On September 5, 2009 shortly after 3:00 pm, Ontario Provincial Police officers, ambulance and fire department members responded to a single motor vehicle collision that took place on Highway 602 just west of the LaVallee River Bridge.
The collision occurred when an eastbound driver of a motorcycle attempted to manoeuvre his motorcycle around a deer running onto the highway. The driver collided with guide rails and was thrown from the motorcycle down an embankment into the water. Witnesses and passing motorists called for emergency services and remained with the driver until crews arrived on the scene.
The male driver was transported by land ambulance to LaVerendrye Hospital and then air lifted to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
