Rainy River Town Council held its regular monthly meeting and everything about it made it seem like a summer meeting. It was hot out and the agenda was light.
The meeting opened with a quarterly report from Fire Chief Stewart McNally.
He noted that the dept. is at nearly full complement and that a great deal of training is coming up.
He also noted that fire inspections of the Roadrunner Motel and CN Hotel will be happening in the near future.
More improvements
Council appointed Mayor Deb Ewald and Clerk Veldron Vogan to be the signing authorities for the Stimulus Fund Contribution Agreement for the town office and garage projects. They encompass $280,000 for the latter and $30,000 for the town hall.
Council also passed a motion agreeing to spend $26,000 on new metal roofing for the town garage as the old roofing was severely corroded.
Clerk Vogan noted that the extra money will still be covered by the grant monies noted above.
Other Business
